FAQ

Flat vendor fee vs. revenue share — which is better?

Flat is better when you're confident in high turnout (your upside is uncapped). Revenue share is better when attendance is uncertain (you pay less if the event flops). Hybrid splits the risk.

What's a reasonable vendor fee for a food truck?

For most regional festivals, vendor fees run $300–$1,500. Premium events (state fairs, marquee music festivals) charge $2,000+. As a rule of thumb, the fee should not exceed 10–15% of realistic revenue.

How do I compare a $500 flat fee vs. a 12% rev share?

Find the break-even revenue: $500 ÷ 0.12 = $4,167. Below that revenue, flat costs you more; above it, rev share costs you more. Plug both into the profit calculator to confirm with your full cost stack.

Are organizer 'hidden' fees common?

Yes — power, water, generator rental, late-payment fees, and trash deposits frequently appear in event addendums. Always ask for the full vendor packet, not just the application.

Should I negotiate vendor fees?

Often yes. Vendor fees are negotiable when you bring a unique cuisine, a strong following, or repeat reliability. The worst answer is no — and a $100 fee reduction is pure profit.
